What we hold, and why we hold it

KFY Horizon Inc. is a private holding company based in Magog, Quebec, on the shore of Lake Memphremagog. We are not a fund, not a promoter, and not in the business of chasing returns. We are long-term owners of a small number of assets and businesses, held with patience and quiet stewardship.

The firm was formed to consolidate family interests across real assets and private operating businesses — a structure for holding, not for transacting. Our horizon is measured in decades, not quarters.

Our approach is unremarkable on purpose. We buy well, we hold quietly, and we do not disturb what already works. Where a business needs capital and calm stewardship, we can provide both. Where an asset needs care and attention over time, we stay.

We look at the horizon more than at the water in front of us. What is far off is clearer, in the end, than what is close at hand. The name reflects this: a horizon is not a boundary but a view — the point at which distance becomes visible.

How we look.

Four principles of the view

Distance over detail

Most of the value of any long-lived asset comes from the years it is held, not the day it is bought. We are willing to wait, and to do nothing, when doing nothing is the right answer.

Clarity over close-up

Modest leverage, clear structures, and businesses we understand. We would rather compound quietly at a reasonable rate than chase a headline return and lose the principal.

iii.

Silence over signal

We do not publish, we do not chase press, and we do not need to be visible. Our reputation is built with the people who know us and the assets we hold.

Partnership over transaction

The people we work with matter more than the paperwork. We back operators we would want to be in business with for decades, and we treat every relationship as if it were the last one we would ever have.
